It’s old news by now, but in the recent energy bill passed by congress, our friend, the incandescent light bulb will be phased out in the next six years. (1) Don’t those contain mercury? Yes…yes they do. (2) I figured I’d show you this video that I found to be amusing.
I think the part about the constitution was a little over the top, but I think he brings up some good points that Americans should be informed about.
The EPA argues that because the energy use is less, it reduces the mercury in the environment, at the small cost of adding mercury into the home.(2)
Just in case you weren’t looking, that’s what congress has recently passed.
Gas prices are at record highs, there’s no question that it’s crunching people, and taking a toll on an already weak economy. Every American is impacted, even those who don’t drive, because the cost to grow food is going up, because farmers need to buy gas to run their farms. On top of that, it costs record amounts to transport food and other goods, that cost is inherently passed on to the consumer. It would help greatly if we could support our own thirst for our oil (while developing other forms of energy, of course).
Americans For Prosperity recently talked to a truck driver who’s starting a petition to our representatives to let them know that we believe a good short term solution is to drill domestically and build new refineries. Obviously this is just a suggestive petition, but it will get across the constituent’s point of view.
Visit www.fightbackwisconsin.com, sign it online and send it to your friends. If you’re even more ambitious you can print out your own version and have people sign it. The point is to get as many signatures as possible, hopefully more than 2,000. It will take only a couple minutes.
